But I'm worried about the costs, the budget is 16 billion rubles (about 450M$) for 100 MWe. Considering overbudget it's hard for me to believe that it's going to be competitive against the VVERs.Pedrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12322272666357513262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25995363.post-8078231885365193512010-01-08T16:47:06.503-08:002010-01-08T16:47:06.503-08:00Unfortunately, the West may be yielding the field ...Unfortunately, the West may be yielding the field to the Russians, among others.

We can thank the fact that we have allowed the process of launching a new design to become such a complex and byzantine undertaking that it makes the elevation of a saint in the Catholic Church look like an offhanded whim.

Until some commonsense is applied to this issue, others will pass us by like we were standing still.DV8 2XLhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14595060432772287143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25995363.post-60632908992006198052010-01-08T10:35:07.104-08:002010-01-08T10:35:07.104-08:00Thanks!!!!Thanks!!!!Pedrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12322272666357513262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25995363.post-16805494532428157832010-01-07T22:08:59.747-08:002010-01-07T22:08:59.747-08:00BREST is lead-cooled, while SVBR is lead-bismuth; ...BREST is lead-cooled, while SVBR is lead-bismuth; BREST is also supposed to breed, while the SVBR is not. Lead is a relatively challenging coolant to work with due to its relatively high melting point (compared to sodium and lead-bismuth) and corrosion issues. As a result, I think BREST is further from commercialization than the SVBR, but the Russians are still working on it.Sovietologisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09099598091505738702noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25995363.post-32412171018506530402010-01-07T14:42:21.193-08:002010-01-07T14:42:21.193-08:00What are the main differences between the SVBR and...What are the main differences between the SVBR and the BREST?Pedrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12322272666357513262noreply@blogger.com
