The Atom and the Postage Stamp, published in Moscow by the Atomizdat publishing house in 1978. I would never have guessed that this book existed, but
it's for sale on the Russian equivalent of eBay. I suspect that it's about the many atomic-energy themed stamps issued by the Soviet postal service.
Cool. There has always been an active branch of philately that collects covers with atomic/nuclear themes with illustrations drawn from nuclear power, atomic weapons, uranium production, and the radiologic sciences, such as x-ray tubes, radiographs. It's a well represented topical specialty in stamp collecting.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it just deals with Soviet postage, or if it includes the other Iron Curtain countries as well. They too issued many nuclear/atomic themed covers as well.
