Marginal Revolution Discussion of Nuclear Power

Marginal Revolution, one of the internet's premier economics blogs, on nuclear power:
If President-Obama is serious about green energy it's not wind he needs to look at but nuclear. Nuclear is clean and green and we can build power stations where we need power, instead of having to invest in costly and inefficient transport networks.
As you can imagine, this has inspired intense debate. Feel free to contribute your insights.

Entertaining comments...on a different note, I wonder if you have seen the recent depressing report on nuclear by...suprise...Amory Levins. Some of his pronouncements almost sound totalitarian to me; he sounds like he has an almost visceral hatred of nuclear power.

Isn't this the latest draft of something that RMI has been circulating for awhile now? As for Lovins, yes, his hatred for nuclear power is visceral.

Nuclear Illusion? Already been covered thoroughly.

Dealing with Lovins and RMI is like playing Whac-A-Mole. Lovins has been pushing essentially the same line since 1976. It doesn't matter how many times he's wrong, he always gets a pass to push nonsense again.

Last summer David Bradish critiqued Lovins in detail; the last post has links to the intermediate posts

Hmm, interesting. I've left a comment over there, but I might need some other rational commenters to back me up in case the anti-nuclear crowd come after me and get their pitchforks and torches out ;)
